Digital Transformation often starts with business applications related conversations so here I am again – listing my top 10 Dynamics 365 (mainly CRM a.k.a. Customer Engagement) tools. And btw – there’s no Dynamics without Power Platform any longer so added some spices from the PP side as well.

Here you are:

  1. XrmToolBox – there’s no project without toolbox. All my credits and sincere thanks go to beloved Dynamics MVP’s like Jonas Rapp & @TanguyTouzard https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/ I’m truly very sorry for those organizations who are not allowed to use this <3
  2. Business rule viewer and all that other cool stuff created by the legendary Dynamics couple Julie & David Yack. Sidenote: There use to be a fantastic Advanced Customization and Configuration course delivered by them. My best training ever. http://xrm.tools/
  3. All Dynamics content from MSDN, Technet and Help Center has travelling already “to the moon and back” and you should pin the Learn Portal into your Favorites Bar in your favorite browser Dynamics 365 documentation – Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
  4. When running multiple development streams for one single project or running multiple projects for single development stream you should be aware of Solution management inside Dynamics. Here you can find more: Solution concepts – Power Platform | Microsoft Learn
  5. Release Planner is the place to go if you need to figure out (with print screens) what came out within last couple of months or is coming to the environment near you within the near future: Microsoft Dynamics 365 – Release Plans
  6. Metadata browser can also been found from Learn (notice old CRM on-premises version and the Dataverse & Power Platform version linked here): Browse table definitions in your environment (Microsoft Dataverse) – Power Apps | Microsoft Learn
  7. Download the Plugin Registration tool, Package Deployment, and other core tools from Nuget. Dataverse development tools (Microsoft Dataverse) – Power Apps | Microsoft Learn
  8. Package Deployer – your friend in developing phases. Trust me. Package Deployer tool – Power Platform | Microsoft Learn
  9. Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations apps – Visual Studio tools for ERP and much more: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/
  10. Implementation guide was one of my favorites in the “good old day” with all it’s 742 pages or so. Nowadays you should head to – Learn Portal 😉 Dynamics 365 implementation guidance – Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

Last but not least – don’t try to do everything by yourself. We have so many brilliant, talented, competent Dynamics consultants, MVP’s and freelancers around the globe not to mention my dear colleagues at Sulava who can help you with your Dynamics 365 & Power Platform.
